Dale Patterson
a psychologist and authority on human behavior, he explains how players behave:
"The
deliberate carnival-like atmophere takes most people back, subconsciously, to a time when responsible behaviors was not a
concern.
As youngters at a carnival we wouldn't normally get into too much trouble, we have parents to supervise us
and control our behavior, especially spending.
Think about what would likely occur without that supervision and spending
limitation. We would go wild, buying all the cotton candy and hot-dog we could eat.
We would go on every ride over
and over again, we would see every side show. Now envision this carefree mentality in the body of an with cash in his or her
pockets and with credit cards on hand, in a casino loaded with exciting games of choice, and huge prizes as a potential reward.
Most people will subconsciously submit to this childhood frame of mind, normal people will toss responsibility out
of the window and spend like a crazy with no consequences. They will lose all discipline, take wild risks and chase losing
bets until it is all gone.
